Youth Volunteers
Youth Volunteers Program
At Oyster Harbour, youth volunteers engage with residents through card games, social visits, and special celebrations, creating meaningful intergenerational connections. These moments help reduce loneliness, provide mental stimulation, and bring joy to residents and the volunteers.
In addition to the rewarding personal connections made at Oyster Harbour, volunteering at the Thrift Store offers hands-on work experience and teaches skills in customer service, teamwork, and retail operations. It’s an excellent way for students to build their résumés, develop communication skills, and learn the value of supporting their community.
The Auxiliary also awards eight $2,000 and two $3,000 bursaries yearly to Grade 12 volunteers who have demonstrated dedication and a passion for community service. These bursaries are based on a combination of hours contributed, attitude, and a desire to pursue post-secondary studies, particularly in healthcare-related fields.
