Think of podcasting like a subscription to a newspaper. All you have to do is subscribe to a podcast and the updated material (in this case an audio message) will be automatically delivered to your computer. The best part is that podcast subscriptions are FREE!

Contrary to popular belief, and even though the name implies the requirement of an iPod, you do not need an iPod to subscribe to podcasts. All you need is a computer, some software and an internet connection. Here’s how you do it:

Step One: Install iTunes

iTunes is a music player but it is also designed to receive podcasts. The latest version of iTunes is available directly from Apple’s website. iTunes is free and is available for both MAC and PC.

Step Two: Subscribe

Next you need to subscribe to our podcast. All you need to do is click on "Podcast” from on the menu at the top of this page and iTunes will automatically launch, submit your subscription and begin downloading the most recent message. You will see the previous nine messages listed but grayed out. If you’d like to download one of these previous messages, simply click on “get” and your download will begin. Download times will vary based on the length of the message and the speed of your internet connection. Please be patient as the file sizes can be fairly large.

Step Three: Sync

If you do have an iPod, all you need to do is connect your iPod to your computer using the cable that came with your iPod. Then select your iPod from under “devices” on the left-hand side of iTunes. Now, in the main section of the iTunes you can select the “podcasts” tab and pick which podcasts you’d like to have on your iPod. Press the sync button located at the bottom right-hand corner and after it finishes, you’re all set.
